Solr Search Configuration (the solr.conf file)

The solr.conf file allows you to customize Solr search behavior. See the table below for details.

To update the solr.conf file:

1.	In the Administration view, click Database > Admin > Searching.

2.	Click Pause Solr Process.

3.	Open the solr.conf file.

• For Unix: /usr/etc/venture/var/solr.conf

• For Windows: C:\\Program Files (x86)\Xinet\Venture\var\solr.conf

4.	Adjust the values as shown in the table below.

5.	Save your updates.

6.	In the Administration view, click Database > Admin > Searching and then click Start Solr.

solr.conf Options

Option	Description
aggregate	Changes Quick Search so that it always does searches for users with "Aggregate Has Each." This search uses a logical AND for each Quick Search token. Search results are returned from any field the user has permission to search. To search for phrases, users can apply quotes in their search tokens for exact matches of two or more tokens (words). For example, the search term "red bus" only searches for terms containing "red bus" (not "red" and "bus"). This feature may take searches longer to complete, especially for large installations. To configure this option, add the following line to the solr.conf file: aggregate=1 (not included by default)
javaparams	Sets the initial and maximum Java heap size. For information, see a previous section.
legacysearch	If you want exact searches to be applied for multiple words without requiring quotation marks, add the following line to the solr.conf file: legacysearch=1 (not included by default)
max_facet_values	Maximum number of facet values returned for each facet. (default: 100)
maxtextsz	For a given file, limits the maximum size of text data in kilobytes to be supplied to Solr for indexing. (default: 8192)
qop	Specifies the default search operator. Possible values are: • 0 = AND, • 2 = OR (default: 0, AND)
strfieldtype	Specifies the default Solr type to use for string fields. Changing this value will require a full re-index of data.   (default: text_en)

Solr Search Filtering Configuration (the solrutil Utility)

Administrators can use the utility solrutil to perform advanced filtering tasks.

To use the solrutil:

1.	Open a command-line.

2.	Type the following to open the utility directory:

cd /usr/etc/venture/bin/solrutil

3.	Launch the utility solrutil and type any of the following parameters.

Usage example:

./solrutil [-D | -d dblev] [-ipport URL] ..

-checkdb	validate MYSQL database
-corestatus <name> <field>	print core <name>'s <field> value
-delete <fileidlist>	remove list of FileIDs
-export <folder>	export WNV to <folder>
-init <path>	create search core in <path> folder
-movecoredata <name> <path>	Moves a Solr core from one location to another; relocates core <name> to new <path> If you find this solrutil option does not work, ask Northplains support for instructions on how to move the Solr core manually (ref: XIN-7876)
-post	import entire WNV
-purgedeleted	remove files no longer present in Venture.
-schema	import Keyword config
-start	start up Solr (clearing shutdown indicator)
-stop	shut down Solr (and prevent auto-restart)
-unloadcore <name>	remove core <name>
-update <fileidlist>	import list of files from WNV
-updatepath <path>	import path and all contents from WNV
-v print	version
