Sending jobs off site to service bureaus

InDesign users should use its Package option when sending jobs off site to service bureaus.

Here’s a strategy that works when you are not using InDesign:

When you are ready to send the job to the service bureau, copy the folder containing the document and images from the high-resolution volume to your moveable media.

Drag icons for the high-resolution volume and the FPO volume to the trash, and then open the copy of the document you’ve placed on the moveable media. Update links to the images.

An alternative strategy once the document is complete would be to:

1.	Unmount the FPO volume.

2.	Open the document from the high-resolution volume and update the image links so they are pointing toward the images on the high-resolution volume. The critical point is that the document that is given to the service bureau must be linked to the high-resolution images used in the document.

3.	Copy the folder containing the document and images from the high-resolution volume to your moveable media.
