Manually Creating External Links for Marquee (for Email actions)

Xinet server administrators can create email actions with embedded links pointing to the asset's Detailed View, Annotation View, the asset in Pilot, or on a mounted volume. In order to do this, the embedded URLs need to contain variables.

Here are the pieces of information you will need to provide to create the link:

PORTAL SERVER

The name or IP address of your portal server.

FILE ID OF PATH

The file ID of the path expressed in the URL as the $PARENTID variable when creating your action. This will substitute the value of the path of the file for which the action is triggered.

FILE ID OF ASSET

The file ID of the asset does not need to be determined and can be specified by using the $XFID variable when creating your action. This variable will substitute the file ID number of the file for which the action is triggered.

MODE (optional)

You can choose whether you want your link to display the Details View or the Annotations View for the file. The value will follow the “showmode=”. Details View is the default if you do not specify a showmode value. There is an example of this in the Annotation View section below.
