Administration Guide : Configuring the Xinet server for Drag and Drop and Linked files

Configuring the Xinet server for Drag and Drop and Linked files
Xinet presents configuration options that allow you to optimize linked files information and drag-and-drop facilities for different environments.
About drag and drop facilities
Typically, administrators should:
Configure Xinet to Make EPS FPOs from all image formats on volumes from which Xinet clients will be dragging images. (“Make EPS FPOs from all image formats” see page 251 provides details.)
Make Large Web Previews that will be stored in the Xinet database. (“Enabling the database on volumes” beginning on page 367 provides details.)
Configuring the server in this manner provides Xinet clients faster Xinet drag-and-drop facilities. It also ensures that clipping paths will be stored in Web previews.
The possibility exists to turn off FPO generation on the server, and instead, rely upon on-the-fly Large Web Preview generation which will occur whenever a Xinet client drags and drops an image. While you save some on disk usage and processing time when the image first arrives on the server, the drag and drop will not be as fast nor will clipping paths be preserved.
