The File History page allows you to establish parameters for storing file transaction logging by setting the largest number of transactions you want to save and the number of days you want to keep them. Xinet will use both parameters in managing the number of events stored in the database. Most sites will probably want settings that keep information around while a job is actually in production. Keeping more information will add to the size of the database.If you Enable Advanced Settings, the display will give finer control about the number of events per file record that will be stored in the database. The upper and simpler-to-use File History Logging setting stores events en masse and can cause the event table to be excessively large, with a general slowdown in performance since it logs everything that goes on into the table. The Advanced Settings allow you to specify which events will be stored; for example, if you only cared about download counts, you could just store that information.The events listed under Advanced Settings represent most of the events that the Xinet database tracks for each file. It does not list all events, however, since Xinet also stores information about events such as Logins and Logouts which don’t pertain to a file. Neither are there options listed for File Create and File Delete events since (usually) by definition there will be just one of each.Whether you use simple File History Logging or Advanced Settings, click the Update button at the bottom of the page to register any changes you make.
