Administration Guide : Actions and Trigger Sets Quick-start Guide : Creating a Trigger

Creating a Trigger
Now, it’s time to create a Trigger Set that uses the Action Settings you just created:
1.
Create a new Trigger Set by clicking Database, Trigger Sets, NewTrigger Set. Name your Trigger Set and provide a description. If there are other Trigger Sets already configured, you have the option to copy an existing Trigger Set.
2.
Click Add and Edit after naming your new Trigger Set.
3.
The Edit Trigger Set window s where you will combine Actions, Settings, Data Fields, and Active Paths to create a Trigger Set.
4.
Use the On Failure email pop-up list to select one of the Actions you previously configured.
5.
Use the Add Data Field pop-up to select your test_approval Action and click the Add button.
6.
Use the Triggered by pop-up to select a Trigger. (In our example, we’ve used Change To.)
7.
Seat a Value using the pop-up list. (In the example, we’ve used Yes.)
8.
Select copy in the Run Action column, then copy to my folder in the with Setting column.
9.
Select Exit and Notify in the On Failure column.
10.
Add a second Action to this rule by clicking the + sign to the right of the On Failure column. This adds another Action which will be run after the first action completes successfully.
11.
Select email in the Run Action column, then Notify Me in the
with Setting column.
12.
Finally, select Exit and Notify in the On Failure column.
13.
Example Trigger Set watching the Data Field, test_approval.
You can read this Trigger Set as follows:
For Data Field test_approval, when it is Changed To Yes, copy the file using the setting copy to my folder, and Exit and Notify if the copy fails. If it succeeds, then send e-mail using setting Notify Me, and Exit and Notify if sending e-mail fails.
14.
Click Save to save your Trigger Set.
Setting an Active Path
1.
Add an Active Path now. (See Definitions.)
Please note:
• Any time Active Paths is set as None, the Trigger Set will not run any Actions.
• Your Active Paths for the action must exist on Xinet database-enabled volumes.
2.
Adding an Active Path resembles adding a Volume for a user. Select the volume from the Volume pop-up list, and, if you wish, select a Sub-Folder of that Volume.
3.
[optional] To add a second Active Path to this Trigger Set, click the + sign on the right side of the Active Paths list. To remove an Active Path from this Trigger Set, click the trash can next to the path.
4.
To save your Active Paths for this Trigger Set, click Save.
5.
Verify that your Trigger Rules and Active Paths are set correctly. Then, click Dismiss to return to the Trigger Sets Summary page.
