Adding templates
To add a new template:

Click the New Template tab. A page resembling the one shown in Figure 0-2 will appear.

Fill in a name and description for the template, and then, if you’d like, use the Copy Template pop-up list to copy an already-existing template to use as the basis for your new template.

[optional] You might save yourself from scrolling through a long list of potential Data Fields by also selecting a Data Field Set using that pop-up list.

Use the Add Data Field pop-up list to select a field that you want to add to the template and click the Add button. You’ll begin to see your template as you add new fields, similar in concept at least to the one in Figure 0-3.

[optional] You may reorder or delete fields from the template as you work on it, using either the Re-order or Trash icons.

[optional] Depending on the field, you may be able to change how users will be able to interact with it. You can change from being edited as a type-in box to a pop-up list or to lock it altogether so that it can’t be edited.
Note: XMP fields do not have the option for Edit or Pop-up unless one has enabled Save XMP under the Data Fields tab.
Decide whether you want to preserve the pop-up lists that have been previously defined for given Data Fields or offer type-in boxes in the template you’re defining. This option only exists for fields that already have pop-up lists defined. If you’d like to preserve a pop-up list, make sure the Pop-up button for the field is selected. If you’d prefer a type-in box, click on the Edit button. If you choose to override the pop-up list, the type-in box will use the constraints for presenting information established when the field was created or last edited. While this may seem round-about in this context, the option exists to provide greater flexibility when you are establishing template variants, as described in Adding new permission sets.
